The purpose of Project A.J., Inc. is to raise and distribute funds for the elimination of Glioblastoma, the most common and deadly brain tumor, as a non-profit, tax-exempt public charity under IRS 501(c)(3) rules.
Project A.J., Inc. was founded in 2008, by high school junior Samantha Harper. The foundation was created in honor of her aunt, Joanne Papanek, who had died on May 14, 2008, of a level IV Glioblastoma. Auntie Jo, or "A.J." became the namesake of the foundation. Joanne was fifty years old when she was diagnosed with this disease, and heartbreaking as it is, she was fortunate enough to live twenty-eight months more. She left behind an entire grieving family who was eager to direct their sadness into positive energy, and work towards preventing other families from losing loved ones in the way that they did.
